Persimmon

Exotic / Sweet and Mild

The persimmon is an edible berry with smooth, shiny skin and a deep yellow, orange, or red color. The flesh of the unripe fruit is firm, with a harsh, and very astringent flavor (due to its tannin content), although when ripe, it acquires a fine texture and a very sweet flavor. When ripe, it resembles a tomato in appearance and size.
