Strawberries are creeping plants of the genus Fragaria and are cultivated for their edible fruit. The strawberry is a conical or almost round fruit, the size of which depends on the species, with green sepals at the top. Its colour is red, and its flavour varies from sour to sweet.

What stands out most about this fruit is its intense aroma. Technically, it is not a fruit, but rather an expansion of the floral receptacle, a fleshy growth on the stem that serves to contain the plant´s small fruits.
