with a leathery surface and dark green upper surface. The fruit is a globose or roughly pear-shaped hesperidium. It is covered with a thick, fleshy, yellow or pinkish peel with small, very aromatic, rough oil glands.

It has 11 to 14 firm, very juicy, sweet or sour carpels, depending on the variety, separated by membranous walls with a characteristic bitter taste, containing pulp ranging in color from pale yellow to very deep red.

Varieties: Star Ruby, White Marsh.
